Cover-Up
Today’s Prompt is ‘FACE MASK’ - channeling the COVID-19. How many face covers can I make in one day? I’m about to find out. After several months of this pandemic I decided it’s time for me to go back to my days of production sewing. I have made blankets, bags, skirts, choir uniforms, orthopedic braces, headboards and so much more. This challenge is closest to when I made a box full of deep diving neoprene head covers. Such a strange product, and trying one on made my head feel like it was stuffed in a tube. And then taking it off, what a disaster. My hair was all tangled up and full of static.
I am looking forward to see what happens today. I enjoy having a stack of cut pieces and counting everything as I go. I count when I start, then count the seconds and minutes it takes to make one. Then I start counting the finished pile. Then I try and do the math behind it, figure out exactly how many were put together in an hour. By the end, I generally have so many numbers swirling in my mind I can’t remember anything.
There’s something about this type of motivation that gets me excited. I like knowing what the project is and what it’s supposed to be at the end. Most of my ideas are so creative. I never know what I will have before I pick up the supplies. I have no clue what it will be in the end. But when I have set perimeters I work like a machine. One, two, three, I’m so ready!
