Feeling the Love
It’s the day before Valentine’s Day. I’m feeling romantic and wondering how to spend the holiday. I usually make chocolates to share with family and friends. But this year is a little different. Here in Dallas it’s very cold, the roads are covered with ice, and we are still practicing social distancing. Leaving the house and visiting people would be a silly choice.
So, I’ve made a confetti cake. I might make it into some cake balls. I made chocolate dipped brown sugar cookies to take to work but was unable to drive there. And I bought myself a box of truffle chocolates that will probably wind up in the freezer. Each year it’s a little different, a few years ago I made cherry cordials. Candied some fresh cherries, rolled each one in homemade fondant and dipped them in dark chocolate. By the end of that weekend I had made a dozen different types of chocolates and delivered them to everyone I could think of.
Fast forward, I’m stuck at home alone with all these sweets. I’ve got some new red and pink flannel fabric to sew into pajamas to keep me busy right now. And by tomorrow I will be sitting around, watching horror movies in bed and eating way too much chocolate. That’s the point of the holiday anyway, right?
